The Blantyre derby is always a highly-contested affair

The Football Players Association of Malawi has requested authorities to suspend the TNM Super League until all registered players are tested before resuming play as a measure to curtail the further spread of the pandemic.

In a statement signed by FPA president Jimmy Zakazaka, the body said they are concerned with the recent news that a significant number of players and officials for Nyasa Big Bullets have been isolated due to Covid-19 symptoms and possible positive statuses.

The statement further says that they may be potential transmission of the virus to players of other teams that played against Nyasa Big Bullets in recent weeks.

The latest team to face Nyasa Big Bullets is Moyale Barracks who lost 5-1 last Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium.

The Kaning’ina soldiers proceeded to face Mighty Tigers 24 hours later.

Different concerned parties have accused FAM and SULOM for allowing teams to lay their games without an update of weekly results of Covid-19 tests as most of the teams are still relying on the tests conducted before the season kicked off.
